Who we are
This website is operated by Shane McClure. Shane practises through Shamac Lawyers, and personal information collected through this website is handled by Shamac Lawyers in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and the Shamac Lawyers Privacy Policy (available on the Shamac Lawyers website), which forms part of this policy.
What we collect
When you make an enquiry or book an appointment we collect the details you give us, such as your name, phone number, email address, the type of matter and a description of your enquiry. We may also collect technical information such as the page you came from and advertising click identifiers, which help us understand how people find us.
How we use it
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, arrange appointments, provide legal services, meet our legal and professional obligations (including identity verification and anti-money laundering obligations where they apply) and, where permitted, to tell you about our services. We do not sell your personal information.
Tools and service providers
Enquiry forms, bookings and client communications are managed through our client relationship platform. We also use analytics and advertising tools (such as Google and Meta) and reCAPTCHA to measure website performance and protect the site from spam. These providers may store information outside Australia.
Automated decisions
We do not use computer programs to decide whether we accept an enquiry or how it is handled. Our enquiry form asks a few screening questions, and our systems may sort enquiries and send automatic acknowledgements and appointment reminders, but every enquiry is reviewed by a person and those decisions are made by us.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, and we keep it only for as long as the law and our professional obligations require.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by contacting us through the enquiry form on this website. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
